The name of this castle is "Midnight" and the 3 ghost witches are named: Elma, Luna, & Cornelia

A spooky castle and a witches

Hi Everyone, Happy October! Time for another Halloween miniature craft. I created a black cat castle that I named Midnight, complete with 3 ghost witches. It was fun to use my imagination and come up with something interesting. How these 3 witches became ghosts is uncertain. The castle they made a home for themselves. I feel it turned out spooky and charming. Let's get started!

Art Supplies:

  • Fairy garden figurines gnomes & wooden castle box: from Dollar Tree

  • Foam board

  • Thin cardboard: like a empty cereal box

  • Polymer clay: I used Sculpey, clear small rolling pin and small plastic board

  • Tissue paper

  • Tacky glue

  • Hot glue

  • Pencil

  • Toothpick

  • exacto knife

  • Paint pens: black & white

  • Puffy paint: black, white & glitter

  • Stone spray paint: this is optional

  • Acrylic paint: green, lime green, brown, black, white, yellow, orange and pink

Step 1

  1. I took the wooden box castle apart, so I could use it as a template.

  2. I drew out the details on the castle and used one of the gnomes to make sure the door was big enough.

  3. I used the exact knife to cutout the door and windows to the castle.

Step 2

  1. I used hot glue to put the castle together.

  2. I put the gnomes on the castle to make sure they fit well.

Step 3

1. I used tacky glue to reinforce the seams. After the glue dried I glued a layer of tissue paper over the entire castle and let that dry.

2. Optional: I spray painted a layer of stone spray paint. I wanted the castle to have more texture.

Step 4

1. I used polymer clay to make brims for the gnomes hat. That instantly turned them into witches.

2. I followed the directions for the polymer clay and baked the gnomes accordingly.

3. I cut out the flooring and window trim for the castle out of the thin cardboard. I cut the flooring to make it look like a wooden floor. After that I glued on the flooring and window trim with tacky glue to the castle. Painted everything brown.

4. I placed the castle in black and draw out a black cat features with a white paint pen on the castle.

5. I painted the witches white, their hats black and their dresses 3 different colors: pink, lime green, and orange. One of the witches had a basket and I painted that brown.

Last Step: finishing touches

1. I painted the castle green and brown.

2. I used white puffy paint on the tops of the castle and let it dry. After I painted the tops orange and made stems from the toothpick which I painted green. I used a black paint pen to make pumpkin faces.

3. I used black puffy paint to outline the castle to give it more depth. I painted the cat eyes with yellow. I also used black puffy paint on the cat ears and eyes. For the whiskers I used white puffy paint.

4. I used the glitter puffy paint to cover the castle to give the castle a magical feel. I used it to make windows for the castle and painted then yellow once they were dry.

5. For the witches I used a black paint pen to make their faces and hair ties. I used brown paint for the apron and belts.

6. For the inside I painted black and added some spooky traditional ghosts. I also used sand paper to weathered the flooring.
